And of course, the people around us—especially our parents, caregivers, teachers and leaders—are more than happy to tell us what they think we are here to do. In fact, sometimes, the ideas of others get so ingrained in us that we try to accommodate those ideas in order to gain recognition or approval. Unfortunately, this almost always leads to dissatisfaction because we have unwittingly failed to pay attention to the only voice that really matters: the internal voice of our higher self.
